Crew Volunteers

In order to become a volunteer crew member you must be at least 17 years of age, medically fit with excellent eyesight and normally live or work within a couple of miles of a lifeboat station.

Crews members don't have to have a maritime background although clearly if you do it is an advantage and will reduce both the length and the costs of your training. We have individuals from all walks of life on our crews, from office workers to company directors!

Most importantly, you will need to be 110% committed to being able to respond at a moment's notice, no matter where you are or what you are doing. Crews are regularly called away from their families, their beds and their work, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

However, in return we can offer you one of the most exciting and fulfilling voluntary jobs available.

Still interested in finding out about becoming a crew member or shore helper for Skerries Lifeboat? Then please email us at info@skerrieslifeboat.ie for further details.

Alternatively, why not call down to the station at exercise times (Normally Thursday evenings 7-9pm or Sundays 11am-1pm.
