About
Skerries
The
town of Skerries, just 20km North of Dublin Airport,
with its tree lined streets and colourful display
of flowers give Skerries a spacious and tranquil atmosphere
ideal for the holidaymaker.
Skerries
is a particularly scenic coastal town which is renowned
for its bathing, pleasant walks and friendly atmosphere,
offshore islands with an abundance of wildlife and
a harbour where the famous Skerries seals are often
seen to relax. A large colony of grey seals resides
in and around the harbour, also the location of the
sailing club and several of the town's restaurants
and pubs.
Skerries
harbour is a major landing port for Dublin bay prawns
and in season is a hive of activity.
Skerries
has a long sandy beach, ideal for children and safe
bathing, patrolled by lifeguards during the summer
for that extra peace of mind. A grass promenade runs
the length of this beach, joining it to Red Island
Scenic Park, with its fine views and free children's
playground.
